Popular science films produced by Vigyan prasar and their screening

Abstract

Vigyan Prasar (VP) is the field of science movie production facing problems regarding telecast of the produced movies at good platforms. Although VP has Doodarshan (DD) as its main channel partner showcasing the popular science films produced by VP, but it has limitations regarding reach to the public. Hence, VP also explored the other channels like Rajyasabha TV, Loksabha TV,DD –Bharati which marginally increased the reach of the programme to the public. To increase the reach to the public and wide dissemination, recently VP started a new search for te-lecast and screening VP produced films through web portals like teacher’s portal, YouTube and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s ) like Read India may become good platform to showcase the films directly to the user and public . You Tube was founded in February 2005 as Web site and that enables users to easily share video contents . As YouTube expanded, features were added to facilitate social networking among its users, Users can /tag” their uploaded videos with keywords or phrases that best describe their content. and these tags are used by YouTube to provide users with a list of related videos . According to recent media reports. You Tube is the largest video sharing Web site on the Internet with over 100 million video accesses per day and 65,000 video uploads per day (USA today , 2006).
