Abstract

Landslides are common in hilly regions during monsoon time. In this paper terms of landslides viz., creep, slide, fall and flow have been defined. Natural and anthropogenic factors of landslides have been explained. Direct and indirect effects due to landslides have been described. Identification of active landslides, flash flood and land erosion have been given for sensitive areas. Preparation and management before and during danger, and management after danger have been explained. At last the processes of mitigation oflandslides have been described in detail.
