Impact of starvation on blood urea level of freshwater catfish Heteropneustes fossilis
Main Article Content
Abstract
Studies were made to observe impact of starvation on blood urea levels, a potent biochemical indicator of body metabolism, of freshwater catfish H. fassilis. The level started decreasing form the initial month (11.63%) and declined sharply up to 64.19% after four months, gradually with increasing starvation eriod. The alterations were correlated with declining metalbolic rate of the fish following starvation , a situation often prevails in aquatic environment due to cyclic changes.
