Abstract

Pollen and fungal spores are the most common cause of seasonal allergies. Allergic diseases - such as bronchial asthma, allergenic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis, are increasing all over the world. More than 30% of the population is known to suffer from one or more allergic ailments in India and approximately 15% develop asthma. The air monitoring in relation to flowering periods, mode of pollination, quantitative and qualitative analysis of bio-aerosols are the basic prerequisites for allergists to identify aero pollen followed by correct diagnosis and proper treatment.
